How to make a very inexpensive Dishwasher powder (that will last ages!) // by Conscious Rebhell

So today we are not talking about something to eat but, instead, we will go for some DIY!

I switched to this dishwasher "recipe" because I was sick to spend enormous amounts of money towards eco - friendly and plastic - free tablets/powders.

And I will never go back again.

This recipe is not only inexpensive.

It is simple, super eco - friendly, will last ages and it is quick, actually super quick, to make.

Let's see how it is done!!!

What you will need:

- 4 cups of washing soda (no worries if you do not know where to find it! I will show you how to make it if you only have baking soda);

- 1 cup of citric acid (easy to find online. I got mine from Ebay and paid 14.95£ for 5kg that will last forever and I can use for thousands of other things around the house too!);

- 1 cup of salt (normal basic sea salt will be fine).

How to:

- if you have baking soda instead of washing soda, just put the 4 cups of baking soda on a large oven tray.

- Switch the oven to 200 degrees and, when the oven it's ready, slide the tray inside the oven for 1 hour.

Every 20 minutes, open the oven and, with a wooden spoon, move the baking soda around so that the whole batch while be well transformed in washing soda.

- After 1 hour, your baking soda will magically become washing soda.

When moving the washing soda from the tray to the container where you will store your dishwasher powder, be sure to cover well mouth and nose with a face mask as it will make you sneeze a lot otherwise! (even better if you'll do it open air).

- now add the salt and the citric acid t the washing soda. Close the container and shake it very very well;

- your dishwasher powder it's ready!

- I usually use about 1 heaped tablespoon per wash and it works very well

Oggi non parleremo di qualcosa di sfizioso da mangiare ma, piuttosto, di un po' di fai da te!

Passai all'utilizzo di questa polvere fatta in casa in quanto mi ero stufata di spendere montagne di soldi per detersivi per lavastoviglie eco friendly e senza imballaggi in plastica.

E mai e poi mai tornero' indietro

Questa "ricetta" non e' solo salva tasche.

E' semplice, super eco friendly, vi durera' secoli ed e' veloce, anzi, velocissima da preparare.

Se usata insieme alla mia ricettina per fare del brillantante, dara' risultati pazzeschi

Vediamo come si fa!!!

Materiali necessari:

- 720 gr di soda da bucato (se non ne avete, non preoccupatevi! Vi spieghero' a breve come ottenerla utilizzando del semplice bicarbonato di sodio);

- 180 grammi di acido citrico (facilissimo da trovare in ferramenta od online. Ho comprato il mio su Ebay spendendo 15£ per 5 kg di prodotto che mi durera' in eterno. E puo' essere utilizzato in casa per 3 mila cose differenti);

- 180 grammi di sale fino.

Procedimento:

- se si ha solo del bicarbonato di sodio, bastera' porlo su una teglia ampia da forno;

- accendere il forno a 200 gradi e, quando pronto, inserirvi la teglia e lasciarla per 1 ora in forno;

Dare una girata al bicarbonato ogni 20 minuti, usando un cucchiaio di legno, di modo che il prodotto si trasformera' uniformemente in soda.

- dopo un'ora, il vostro bicarbonato si sara' trasformato in soda da bucato.

A questo punto si potra' trasferire la soda nel contenitore prescelto. Quando si compie questa operazione, e' bene coprire bocca e naso con una mascherina in quanto la polvere ottenuta e' estremamente irritante (meglio ancora se fatto all'aperto. Respirarla non sara' piacevole in quanto inizierete a starnutire come se non ci fosse un domani eheh!);

- ora aggiungere alla soda il sale e l'acido citrico, Chiudere il contenitore ed agitare per bene per mescolare le sostanze;

- la vostra polvere per lavastoviglie e' pronta!

- Personalmente ne utilizzo un cucchiaio da tavola bello pieno per ogni lavaggio (insieme al mio brillantante fatto in casa) e funziona molto molto bene.
